$4.5 Mn UN-Backed Project to Protect Sri Lanka's Coastal Biodiversity

A $4.507 million UN-backed project funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and UNDP has been initiated in Sri Lanka following an agreement signed by Secretary to the Ministry of Environment K.R. Uduwawala and UNDP Resident Representative Azusa Kubota. The five-year initiative aims to protect coastal biodiversity, improve ecosystem resilience, and foster sustainable economic opportunities across the districts of Ampara, Batticaloa, and Hambantota.
